What is a REGISTERED NURSE

An enrolled nurse practices under the supervision of a registered nurse. An enrolled nurse cares for patients, monitoring and contributing towards assessments, whereas a registered nurse has a much more senior role practising independently alongside other healthcare professionals. 

Day to day tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Comprehensive patient assessments
  • Development and management of health care plans
  • Administer intravenous medication and immunisations
  • Clinical decision making and planning
  • Supervise, train and direct enrolled nursing staff
  • Provide clinical and medical advice to assist patients in managing their own health plans
  • Patient monitoring and condition record keeping
  • Training and education to medical staff and other nurses
