What is an IT Manager
The specifics of an IT Managers role will depend largely on the sector of the employer. Day to day tasks for an IT Manager in retail, eCommerce, corporate, port services and agricultural sectors, for instance, will look very different from each other.
But at the core, an IT manager oversees the way a company and its employees consume, interact and access data as well as internal and client-facing data collection and interaction. Day to day tasks include but are not limited to:
- Create, implement and manage systems
- Assess and measure processes to drive productivity and streamline outputs.
Hiring, training and managing the staff contingent in an IT department - Auditing and evaluation of networks, server and IT-related infrastructure processes and equipment
- Update and enhance security, software and networks used by the company
